Sue Rainsford is a Dublin-based fiction and arts writer whose unsettling, body-centred novels bend folk horror and magic realism into something entirely her own. A graduate of Trinity College, IADT and Bennington College in Vermont, she made her debut with Follow Me To Ground (New Island, 2018), the story of a pair of not-quite-human healers who bury their patients in the earth to cure them; it won the Kate O'Brien Award and was longlisted for both the Desmond Elliott Prize and the Republic of Consciousness Award on UK publication by Doubleday. Her second novel, Redder Days, followed in 2021, and a third, From Out My Heart, is forthcoming from Lilliput Press in 2026. She has also won le Prix Imaginales and a MacDowell Fellowship, held residencies at IMMA, Maynooth University and UCD, and written commissions for BBC Radio 4 and RTÉ Radio 1 — her short story 'Shorn' was read by Saoirse Ronan.
